  • Abstract
This paper analyzes the shortcoming existing in conventional relaying of transmission line and puts forward the idea of using the multi-agent technology in the scheme of transmission line protection. The structure and decision-making process of this protective system is elaborated. Agents are software processes capable of searching for information in networks, interacting with pieces of equipment and performing tasks on behalf of their owners. Multi-agent has the characteristics of autonomy, cooperation and distribution. Simulation results demonstrate that this relaying system has the advantage of instantaneous operation at the protective zone of whole line and without the need of an additional communication link
