Abstract
Coordinate transform is the core technology in Digital Scan Conversion (DSC) of B-mode ultrasonic, and its speed mostly determines the frame rate of B-mode imaging. In the traditional coordinate transform process, ultrasonic echo data is converted from polar coordinate to rectangular directly; the process is time-consuming and the data is unsuitable for post-treatment. In this paper, we employed the CORDIC Algorithm in coordinate transform. We compared the conventional radix-2 CORDIC algorithm with the improved radix-4 CORDIC algorithm and found the later saved half iterations at the same frequency. What´s more, radix-4 CORDIC algorithm had smaller hardware consumption when using the pipelined structure. These results revealed that radix-4 CORDIC is an excellent method for high-speed DSC of B-mode ultrasonic.
