Abstract
The authors describe an evolutionary step in improving the measurement of instantaneous phase angle, which is of crucial importance for future real-time control applications for transient stability enhancement. Some of the aspects of the phasor calculations based on uniform sampling and discrete Fourier transforms are outlined. Problems associated with such calculations are demonstrated in simulations and improved solutions proposed based on subsequent fitting of the sliding windows of the sampled data with exponential functions, by using Prony´s technique. Improvements are illustrated by simulation results
