Abstract
A solar insolation dataset for over 800 locations around the world is described. Data for 72 countries are represented between the latitudes of 60°N and 60°S. For each site, the estimated daily average insolation for each month is presented in kilowatt-hours per square meter for seven array orientations. This insolation database was created for designers of flat-plate photovoltaic (PV) power systems. The dataset will provide an estimate of solar insolation in a format that is easy to use and compare. The model predicts plane of array insolation adequately for most PV power system designs. The data for over 800 worldwide sites are presented in a consistent set of units and cross-indexed for easy access
