Abstract
Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) is a new data analysis method presented by Norden E. Huang. HHT theory is considered as a great breakthrough of linear and stationary spectrum analysis based on Fourier transform in recent years. It is based on the signal´s local characteristics, especially adaptive for the analysis of the non-linear and non-stationary signals which frequency varies with time. One of the major problems of the HHT method is the appearance of mode mixing. Mode mixing is defined as an Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) including oscillations of dramatically disparate scales, or a component of a similar scale residing in different IMFs. It is a result of signal intermittency. This paper studies the mode mixing problem, discusses the multi-component signal model, establishes one kind of the intermittency test algorithm, and gives the simulation examples. The simulation results show that the intermittency test algorithm is feasible and effective for the intermittency signals.
