Abstract
The ways in which software reuse techniques and CASE tools could be used to alloy the effects of a future shortage of software engineers are discussed. The concept of software factories, which produce software with reusable components, and the way it applies to CASE tools are described. It is then argued that CASE tools can be used as tools of reuse in the production of software
