Abstract
A discussion is presented of three definite trends in the practice of software reuse in the United States: (1) a trend in the software industry to institutionalize the practice of reuse, (2) a trend towards integrating reuse in the software development process, and (3) a trend to standardize methods for domain analysis. It is shown that if these trends continue and succeed in their goals, then the promise of software reuse technology to increase productivity and quality is within reach
