  • Abstract
We are interested in the deformation of a thin magnetoelastic film. This has many possible applications, such as in microfluidic actuators and sensors. In previous articles a finite element method has been used for transient simulation of the deformation of the film, for the special case of soft magnetic material only. In this article the approach is extended to the case of hard (permanent) magnetoelastic materials. The hard magnetic material case involves an additional system of equations for the self-field, and it also results in a non-symmetric Maxwell stress tensor.
