Abstract :
SMEs represent the backbone of most economies. Romanian economy is no exception. Their status represents a signal for the political decision-makers of the actual situation of the economy, because a powerful SMEs sector means a healthy economy. This paper presents the main economic results for SMEs in Romania, considering SMEspsila performances in 2007 compared to 2006. The research has been conducted on a sample of 1256 SMEs - micro, small and medium sized enterprises - operating in all economic sectors, covering every age category and each of the eight development regions, being considered as representative for the goals of the research and for the Romanian SMEspsila situation.
