Abstract
The lossless embedding problem for the class of real and non-contractive scattering matrices, and hence for nonpassive systems is addressed. The approach is based on a modified lossless inverse scattering (LIS) model. A recursive Schur-type algorithm is devised, which enables the computation of the lossless embedding for arbitrary scattering matrices including the boundary case of scattering matrices with singular values equal to one
