Abstract
This paper discusses PJM interconnection to develop an interconnection standard for small generators (Less than 2 MW) based on IEEE 1547, as well as a process for pre-certifying small generators based on this standard. PJM Interconnection (PJM) was established as the nation´s first federally regulated Regional Transmission Organization (RTO). PJM executes three-way interconnection agreements for all generators, including small generators, within the PJM control area. The technical basis for these agreements is the interconnection specifications established by the transmission facilities or energy distribution companies.
