Abstract
A novel dynamic load balancing algorithm is presented for distributing upstream channel bandwidth allocations across bonded channels in DOCSIS3.0. By utilizing the well-known binary search mechanism in the proposed algorithm, it is possible to quickly find and maintain a balanced state. The simulation results show that only 10 to 20 repeated operations of the proposed algorithm are required to reach a balanced state regardless of the initial unbalanced state of the bonded upstream channels.
