Abstract :
With rapid development of distribution network, distribution management system (DMS) is facing many challenges such as "automation-island", data resources dispersing, the traditional databases having not enough storage amount and low accuracy of real-time data. Cost reduction, quality improvement and quick business decisions all also need a requirement for continuous development of DMS, which will lead to increasing information exchange, integration of systems and upgrades to old functions. A method model of setting up powerful distributed real-time database platform of DMS, as the main solution to these problems, is proposed in this paper. The paper discusses function requests of this database platform, and make detailed analysis to some performance characteristics of the PI database platform, resulting it is well fit for the demands of DMS. In addition, a kind of DMS framework based on this real-time database platform is put forward, and proves flexible, open and upgradeable. The implementation strategies and some remarkable issues, e.g. security and standardization, are presented finally, offering helpful references for power supply enterprises to develop DMS
