Abstract :
A pattern recognition system is described that classifies digitized images of business forms according to a predefined set of templates. The process involves a training phase, where images of the template forms are scanned, analyzed and stored in a data dictionary; and a recognition phase, during which scanned form images are compared to templates in a dictionary to determine their class membership. The system has been tested under a variety of conditions and its performance has been proven to be satisfactory
