Abstract :
Taking the data acquisition system (DAS) for example, the paper presents a new approach to study the hardware reliability of digital protection devices. A significant feature of the approach is that it combines the circuit simulation function of OrCAD/PSpice software and Monte Carlo simulation method. According to reliability criterion presented in this paper, it obtains two reliability indices, namely reliability and reliability confidence interval, by means of point estimation and interval estimation. Finally, the results of Monte Carlo simulation are proven to be reasonable by analyzing the circuit sensitivity. The approach presented in this paper provides a quick, cost-effective and quantitative method for evaluating the reliability of digital protection devices, simultaneously showing that point estimation is a good way to find reliability indices, and that interval estimation is an effective means to reflect estimation accuracy
