Abstract
Southern California Edison (SCE) has undertaken an initiative to design and construct a distribution circuit of the future. To date, SCE has held an internal design competition, has formed a team to create a final design, and intends to complete a pilot project based on this design by the end of 2006. This note describes this initiative in more detail with regards to motivation, functional requirements, technology, and the envisioned process that will lead to an actual distribution circuit of the future.
