Abstract
An approach is presented to optimally estimate stability regions of interconnected nonlinear systems via the nonlinear comparison principle. The estimate is optimal in the sense that, for a given Lyapunov function and a given comparison inequality associated with the interconnected system, no better estimate than the one presented can be achieved. This is achieved in three steps. Optimal estimates of stability regions of isolated subsystems are obtained. The exact stability region of the comparison system is established. A constructive methodology is applied to enlarge the estimated stability region of the interconnected system
