  • Abstract
Aimed at the DiffServ network system, this paper proposes an adaptive RIO algorithm in gentle mode (ARIO-G). The new algorithm integrates adaptive RED algorithm (ARED), RED algorithm in gentle mode (Gentle_RED) and RED algorithm with In/Out (RIO) effectively. By implementing an online automatic adjustment mechanism to achieve parameter setting, and introducing the new parameter 2maxp to deal with the situation when the average queue size is greater than the largest threshold, it aims at resolving the difficult parameter setting, the poor stability of average queue size and latency. The simulation results show that the algorithm resolves the problem of parameter setting, reduces the latency and the packet loss rate, and improves the stability of latency while maintaining the good protection of high-priority data packets in the RIO algorithm. Thus, it improves the performance of ensuring forwarding in DiffServ effectively.
