Abstract
Frequency-dependent inductances and resistances of complicated 3-D packages can be extremely efficiently computed using a volume-element formulation combined with a multipole-accelerated iterative matrix solution method, provided the iterative method converges rapidly. Two approaches to preconditioning the iterative method are presented, and results are given which show that both methods substantially accelerate iterative method convergence when applied to the inductance extraction problem
