Abstract :
A novel permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive without mechanical sensors is presented. The motor is controlled by a new current control method which is based on the concept of space voltage vector. The speed and position of the motor are estimated by using an extended Kalman filter. The dynamic performance of the drive is investigated through computer simulation. The results show that the proposed mechanical sensorless PMSM drive can operate in a wide speed range
