Abstract :
A new scheme of induction motor control without using a speed sensor is proposed for general purpose in this paper. The new scheme is composed of a speed calculation algorithm and slip frequency vector control. The speed calculation algorithm is achieved according to integration of the difference between the command value of torque current and the torque component of the stator current, which is derived based on a new equivalent model of the induction motor. The new model is made up of two parts, one is the rotor flux linkage subsystem and the other is the torque subsystem, and is similar to that of a DC motor. The control system has been tested under different operating conditions and experimental results have shown that the system has good characteristics in the steady state as well as during transients
