Abstract
Based on the current situation of poor vibration damping performance of conventional all-steel bogie wheel, a kind of segmented constrained layer damping structure is applied to bogie wheel to improve its vibration damping performance. This new structure mainly consists of a high-damping rubber layer as a viscoelastic material and the constraining layer segmented surrounding the rubber. A crawler bulldozer is taken as an application example, the mathematical model for the half vehicle and single bogie wheel are established. With the buffer performance comparative analysis between the conventional and improved bogie wheels performed by Matlab, the results show that the vibration suffered by crawler bulldozer could be buffered effectively by the new bogie wheels. With strength analysis of the improved bogie wheels carried out by ANSYS, the results show their strength could meet the operating requirements under the different working conditions of the crawler bulldozer.
