Abstract
Biomass is a kind of fuel with the property of low density, bulky and easy to release the volatile. The content of alkali metal and the chlorine of biomass are higher than fossil fuel which will cause deposition and corrosion problem when fired boiler as the only fuel directly. To understood the causes and the formation mechanism of corrosion and deposition the burning characterize of biomass were analyzed, the main factors that influence the formation of deposition and corrosion were listed also, these analyses have advanced the understanding of the role of all factors to the deposition and corrosion formation and mechanism in the combustion of biomass. Research shows that the formation of deposits are mainly result in the morphological changes and distribution effect of the ash of biomass in combustion process, particle impact, gas condensation, heat transfer and chemical reactions. The process of corrosion is gradually transferred the Fe to deposition through the chemical reaction. Chloride and sulfate plays an important role in the corrosion process.
