Abstract
The use of optical voltage transformers to measure high voltage directly is limited by the high sensitivities of electro-optical crystals. A new structure of the optical voltage sensor head was developed, with which the system´s instability induced by the size mismatch of the high voltage electrodes and the electro-optical crystal can be reduced. The stability of the structure was analyzed theoretically by the FEM, and the prototype was experimentally tested. The results show that the performances of the system have met the design requirements.
