Abstract
The transmission efficiency ƒ for the photoelectrons emitted from a CsI photocathode into CO2 and into Ar-CO2 mixtures is investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. The results are compared with earlier results in Ar, CF4 , CH4 and Ar-CH4 mixtures. The calculations examine the dependence of ƒ on density-reduced electric field E/N in the 0.1–40 Td range, on incident photon energy Eph in the 6.8–9.8 eV (183–127 nm) range and on mixture composition. Electron drift parameters in CO2 and Ar-CO2 mixtures are also presented.
