Abstract :
The approximation problem in the design of selective linear (or arbitrary) phase filters is examined when the filter transfer function is obtained such that both aspects of the response are considered simultaneously. The author highlights the basic issues involved in formulating the design techniques and considers some fundamental contributions. A unified approach which applies to lumped, digital, switched-capacitor, and distributed microwave filters is used. A useful and instructive generalized approximation method is presented
