Abstract :
At the small angle neutron scattering instrument KWS2 of the new research reactor FRM II at Munich an upgrade of the detector system is currently under development. In order to improve the count rate capability, the readout electronics of the large scintillation detector is to be replaced by a modern state-of-the-art electronics, which implements a shorter pulse processing and higher bandwidth for transport of the data. An overall dead time of 1 μs is aimed at with the new design. First measurements with the new readout-electronics have been carried out, showing a considerable increase of the count rate capability.
