Abstract :
A generic optoelectronic computational element composed of a spatial light modulator (SLM) coupled to a charge-coupled device (CCD) detector array on a cell-by-cell basis is presented. Using a light source and a programmable transformation unit in a feedback arrangement, the structure exploits the parallelism inherent in optics to perform high-speed image processing. A few applications involving the implementation of high- and low-pass filtering and skeletonization algorithms are presented
