This paper review and discuss software product management as a discipline, the need for it, and how it relates to RE. Given the relevance of product management in IT and software companies, and the rather unexplored body of knowledge in this field, the panel delivers a brief overview of software product management and its relationship to requirements engineering. Specifically the panel builds upon the workshop on software product management held before the RE´06 conference and outlines areas for further growth, both in academia and practice
