Abstract :
Design automation principles for mixed analog-digital application-specific ICs (ASICs) are presented. The proposed method consists of circuit synthesis based on the predefined electrical topologies using library subcells and optimized to the user specifications. Design correctness and optimization are based on subcell, large and small signal models and characterization tables using complex cell specifications derived from ASIC description and specification. The layout compilation is automated by the introduction of layout attributes in the ASIC specification using modified schematic entry. Layout-related process parameters are discussed
