  • Abstract
A module compiler is presented for analog and mixed analog-digital circuits. The approach includes a new framework to incorporate complex design rules, technologies, and constraints, as well as a high-level description of the modules, and optimization of layout and parasitics. The modules are represented symbolically and are built up hierarchically from (sub)modules and geometrical objects. The allowed constraints and rules include conditionals, functional dependencies between degrees of freedom in both the horizontal and vertical directions, and parametrization. The cost function for the optimization can be explicitly described; combined with built-in functions this allows a rich set of analog constraints and minimization of complex functions of area and lengths
