Abstract
This paper presents a dynamic failure detection algorithm and its on-board implementation developed for the two-motor-driven electric vehicle system. A fault detection filter is designed and a decision metric is newly devised such that it can simultaneously detect and locate the occurrence of the dynamic failures of sudden pressure drops in the tires and sudden torque reduction in the inverter-motor-paired actuators. The design and implementation procedure of the fault defection filter is described together with the illustration of the experimental results
