  • Abstract
    With the increase in population, the demand for electric power is also growing. And it cannot be fulfilled by using finite sources only. So the renewable energy sources are going to play a key role in the future. Now-a-days DGs are also used for supplying power to the consumers. DGs are connected normally to the primary distribution network. It works along with the supply from main grid, but when supply is cut off from the main grid due to some fault, these DGs operates in islanding mode. Combination of a number of DGs to form a low scale power system is called a microgrid (μ-grid). This paper involves modeling and study of grid connected distributed generation based hybrid system under different fault conditions. The modeling and simulation of hybrid PV generation system and wind generation based hybrid system has been done in this paper. And outputs of these models under different fault conditions are compared. These studies are done for two situations. First when the DGs are operating in normal condition along with the main grid. And the second situation is when the DGs are operating in islanding mode. The developed models are built in MATLAB/ SIMULINK environment.
