  • Abstract
This paper addresses the planning of TD-SCDMA cellular radio networks for data services when implementing HSDPA, enabling the evaluation of the network performance in different scenarios. The modeling schemes of HSDPA key technique are proposed and developed to evaluate the TDSCDMA network performance with HSDPA. Such scheme is also embedded in APOX® tool. Two frequency allocation schemes according to the HSDPA users of the neighboring cell are served by the same carrier or by the different carrier from each other in TD-SCDMA N-frequency network, which are named ¿same carrier scheme¿ and ¿different carrier scheme¿ are compared in different scenarios. From the simulation results, it can be found that at the initial deployment stage in which the TD-SCDMA R4 users´ code usage rate is less than 0.45, ¿different carrier scheme¿ is better to attain higher HSDPA system throughput while the network admission successful rate can be ensured; however, when the TD-SCDMA R4 users are increasing and the code usage rate is higher than 0.45, ¿same carrier scheme¿ will become better again to ensure the network admission successful rate and get the similar HSDPA system throughput. Such conclusion is useful for the TD-SCDMA network deployment when HSDPA is implemented.
