Abstract
The broadband integrated services digital network (B-ISDN) is required to support services with diverse traffic flow characteristics and performance requirements. It is critical for the integrity of many multimedia services that guaranteed performance levels be provided by the transport network. In this paper, a traffic management technique for the specification of asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) is proposed. This proposed technique simplifies the existing traffic spectrum, and requires simple protocols which guarantee at least an acceptable level of QoS for each application
