Abstract :
The well known transfer function bounding technique for trellis codes is used to obtain an approximation for the bit error rate of a trellis coded diversity receiver over a slowly fading Rayleigh channel. The approximation accommodates diversity reception through a modification of the branch labeling of the error state diagram
