Abstract
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology has a huge market potential in China. Spectrum management of RFID will therefore play an important role. The specificities of frequency resource decide that the government must be responsible for spectrum management and ensure a sound market order. However, excessive control of government could hinder the development of RFID industry, which needs to be promoted by all participants. This paper considers the experiences of the United States and Japan. It proposes that the practice of RFID spectrum management in China should be guided by the government, led by enterprises, planned scientifically, unified in standards, and encourage innovations. During this period of financial crisis, the government should expand domestic demand, accelerate the restructuring and upgrading of China´s industry, and promote the fast development of RFID industry.
