Abstract :
A Beam Loss Monitoring System (BLM System) can help to get the beam loss information by measuring the radiation around the beam pipe. It is useful on finding the vacuum leakage, regulating the machine operation parameters, improving the machine performance and so on. The Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is a 3rd generation synchrotron radiation source facility under construction, and the booster of the SSRF is the first one built in China. A new type BLM System is designed for the injector of the SSRF. This BLM System can get accurate information of beam loss position, and it is adaptive for the pulse radiation field around the linac and the transportation line which has a very small duty factor. The BLM System has been built and used during the commissioning of the SSRF. It is proved to be functional, and a useful tool for studying the machine status. Besides, a comparison experiment with the Bergoz BLM detector was also done at the SSRF, offering very interesting results.
