Abstract :
The optimum ageing process parameters for 6063 aluminium alloys were obtained with the aids of orthogonal polynomial regression analysis and optimization methods. The regression equation between ageing hardness and ageing temperature and time was obtained. The optimum solution of the regression equation was found with optimization method. The optimum hardness of 76.6HV was obtained adopting two staged ageing technique at 170°C for 70min plus 210°C for 50min. Two-staged ageing regime has an obvious advantage over traditional one-staged ageing regime. Higher ageing hardness has been obtained during shorter ageing time.
