Abstract
We consider a multiple access situation, typical in wireless LANs, where a set of portable stations time-shares a common transmission channel with a central station. The operation of the protocol may be modelled by a single server queue with two classes of customers. An analysis is included of the protocol stability, the system uplink and downlink packet delays, and the upper and lower bounds
