  • Abstract
Performance characteristics for a large aluminum electrolytic capacitor constructed with an electrochemical capacitor cathode are presented and discussed. These capacitors use conventional etched and formed aluminum/aluminum oxide anodes interleaved with an electrochemical capacitor cathode plus conventional aluminum electrolytic electrolytes. This design approach provides increased energy density at the expense of decreased time response compared to a conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitor
