Abstract :
This paper is focused on using standard library components (models for power diodes and switches, current sources, voltage sources) in conjunction with the experimental determined characteristics of the motor to model a switched reluctance motor drive. The incremental inductance is modeled as a current source and the back emf is modeled as a voltage source. The model can be used to simulate four-quadrant operation of a switched reluctance motor drive. The experiments made on a fractional horsepower motor drive are in agreement with the simulation results.
