Abstract :
Power-system transient stability is investigated by considering the energy balance between an individual generator of the power system and the rest of the system. It is proposed that for each fault, a single generator of the power system can be identified which determines the loss of stability of the entire system. It is further proposed that the energy balance between this particular generator and the rest of the system is a valid measure of power-system transient stability or instability. The test system utilized in this research consists of 17 generators and 163 buses.<>
