Abstract :
Modes in media with the rotating optical indicatrix consist of two circularly oppositely polarized components. Electro-optical crystals with the rotating optical indicatrix can support modes in the form of plane waves and spatiotemporal optical solitons. The solitons arise in crystals with secondand third-order nonlinearity. The shape and distribution of energy may be controlled by both the amplitude and period of the applied electric field. As the medium with the rotating optical indicatrix is a very interesting object from a physical viewpoint, I discuss the peculiarities of light propagation through such a medium.
