Abstract :
Business needs are expanding with evolution of the global economy. Customer-centric concepts are gradually becoming the main driver of businesses and will thus determine the development of business information systems. How to fully satisfy customer needs requires that these needs should be processed in a timely fashion and moreover intelligence should be enabled so as to solve some problems beyond the capabilities of human processing. The situation calculus - as a widely used formalism in Al fields - is just such an appropriate method that can bring intelligence to business systems. This paper attempts to give a survey on application of the situation calculus in business information systems.
