Abstract :
A theoretical model is presented for the second harmonic generated by the laser pulse which direction of polarization experiences time variations. These variations are shown to result in the large conversion efficiency and to affect the shape of the generated pulse. Our numerical simulations predict shortening of the harmonic pulse due to the temporal variation of the direction of polarization of the pump pulse.
