Abstract :
We present some examples of binary two-level unequal error-protection codes (UEP codes) that are better than linear ones. We analyze a construction for nonlinear UEP codes and find sufficient conditions for which the construction yields codes with parameters exceeding a nonexistence bound for linear codes, the Katsman bound
