Abstract
The paper explores the features of different learning environments realized through multimedia, hypermedia and transmedia. Also, the students´ opinion is gathered to understand their point of view about the role of multimedia support in their learning and about their vision of a contemporary multimedia application. A model of an effective multimedia environment with hypermedia features is created, consisting of several layers representing the importance of learning theory and scenarios, student´s profile and preferences, user interface and navigation, used multimedia objects, interactivity and student´s control, hyper connection and adaptivity.
