Abstract
The TTC´s (Canada) Rapid Transit Expansion Program includes the construction of two new subway lines (Eglinton West and Sheppard) which interconnect with the existing subway system. These new lines will incorporate new transit system technologies in several areas, including: platform edge doors; communications-based automatic train control; and a system-wide network for data and voice communications. This paper describes the structured approach to systems integration which has been adopted for the Program in order to maximize the benefits which these technologies offer while managing the associated risks
