Abstract :
In finding ways to work with knowledge as an asset, organizations are transforming knowledge from an abstract concept to an increasingly tangible and manageable one. However most knowledge and experience still resides in the brains of people, therefore connecting people is a critical strategy. Experts network is designed to be a valuable source to visualize the experts and expertise within an organization. This paper proposes a method to build an expert network of an academic department based on the publication information of each expert. In our work co-word analysis and social network analysis are utilized to discover the key research areas and active experts. We conclude with a discussion of challenges as well as planned future work.
